Welcome to
the Airdrie Minor Basketball Association Minis
Airdrie's Mini level is unique as it is entirely run in Airdrie. All practices and games are held in Airdrie schools! Each practice and game lasts one hour and each player gets a team t-shirt.
Mini Schedule: The mini schedule posting will be updated in October for the new 2010/2011 season.
Player of the Week: Micah Bankert, Mini 1. The thing I like the most about basketball is having fun. I like to shoot and I like to get the rebounds. I like to play with my teammates and work together. My favorite team is the Dino's. I had fun watching them play. They had good team work and made good passes.
Mini 1 gives their coach a haircut as their reward for winning their first game.
Last Week's Player of the Week: Amy Berryman, Mini 5. Amy stepped up for Team 5 after missing last season to injury. Her fluid, graceful style compliments her wide range of skills: dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, and defense. Amy is also helped by being tall, teachable and hard working.
Congratulations to all mini teams who participated in the tournament! It was a lot of basketball against some pretty tough opponents.
Our first annual Mini Tournament was Saturday, February 13 and received good comments from those teams who were invited. In the A Pool, Bow River Lakers Boys won, beating the Cochrane Kodiaks Boys in the final. The Silver Springs Swish Girls team almost defeated the Kodiaks to advance to the final, but had to settle for third place. The Airdrie Mini Oranges finished fourth. Players of note from the final were Jake Mclellan, Matthew Sirianni and Aidan Smith. Airdrie players noted as stand-outs are Jared Quinton, Cameron Swainson and Desean Williams
In the B Pool, the Nose Creek Titans won, narrowly defeating the Nose Creek Mini Steelers. The Airdrie Mini Sharks placed third, with the Varsity Venom placing fourth. Players of note from the B Pool are Dawson Funk and Caleb Lee.
